Updated Post here: http://druidlove.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/cata-pre-raid-gear-list-final-updated/
As requested, I’ll go ahead and do the pre-raid BiS list.
To start, only take leather. Unless the cloth is a huge up right at 85, don’t take it, it probably wont make up for the 5% int bonus.
Stats are not 100% concrete yet. Many people claim for healers, including resto druids:
Enough mana to finish an encounter with innervate > all
After that: int=>Master>crit=haste
int will always be best, it’s your SP. But mastery is good up to a certain point. Until that point, take all the mastery you can. Especially for 5 mans/heroics, our mastery is amazing. 25 mans it loose a bit of value, but not much. 5 mans though, you have no where near the same mana problems and procing your mastery(which is very good I might add) is easy.
You can not hit the haste cap, don’t bother trying. So after those, take crit or haste, whichever you have less of(until crit soft cap which I’m not 100% sure of) and has more stats you need on it.
As always, this will have all the pieces you can get according to ilvl and will be in order from BiS down, I will only be doing lvl 85 gear, not gear you will get while leveling/reg under 85 dungeons.
By the time you need to know these, you’ll know the acronyms. And to be clear, your PERSONAL BiS will all be different. It’s 100% based on what stats you already have, and how much spi you need. To know what they have:
I=int, S=Spi, M=Mastery, #=number of sockets+color, H=haste, C=Crit
Remember: Take Spi till you no longer run OOM. Everything pretty much has int, so that’s not a problem. Haste=Crit=Mastery(Mastery probably above H&C once we figure out soft cap). Until then, keep it balanced. In real terms, esp when it gets into raids: Spi=healer gear. No spi=dps gear. Yes, you really will need spi on almost all your gear when raids are released, and dps doesn’t get use out of it, so those bommys wont be rolling on it. Unknowns are probably a horde/alli difference.

As always, I’ll be updating this often and making a new one once a solid stream of live raid gear info is available. This is all still changing and can be changed once Cata is released. if you didn’t read the top, read it and you’ll understand what “your” BiS will be.
“Yes, you really will need spi on almost all your gear when raids are released, and dps doesn’t get use out of it, so those bommys wont be rolling on it.”
actually moonkins will be also trying to get all the spirit they can. Balance of Power converts all spirit to hit rating, and we will need spirit/hit in just about every slot to reach the hit cap through the first tier of raiding. And if you look through all the leather, you will notice that none of the leather intellect gear has any hit on it, not even the balance druid tier 11 set(we have spirit on our legs), as blizzard expects moonkin to get hit from spirit, and makes the gear useful for more than just one spec (only holy pallys get their own gear).
That’s true, but if you look at weapons, trinkets, and jewelry they have a ton of hit on them. I have a feeling a lot of guilds wont be letting non-healers roll on spi, least that’s what I’ve heard from a lot of RLs.
Though, that’s more into tier one epics, blues you can’t really stop pug bommys from taking. I’d take spi gear if I rolled boom to hit cap. =)
Yeah, in the other non-armor type slots, hit will be an option for moonkins, but when it comes down to best in slot, its going to depend on what the other secondary stat is on that piece of gear, for example, haste/spirit would be much more desirable than mastery/hit for a moonkin. Of course some guilds will have some set rules in place for who gets what first and all of that, I know my guild we all post in our forums what are best in slot lists will be for the current content so the loot council and the rest of the guild will know who is going for what.
Its really kind of nice if your two specs are balance/resto since the gear is more compatible than probably ever before. Though I’m not sure what the best stats are for resto, for moonkins it will look like this Int>hit/spirit to cap>haste>crit>mastery.
I didn’t get around to saying it in my last comment, lol, but very good job in getting your list together :) it definitely takes a good amount of time and research to get it all together. I spent a few hours last week getting my pre-raid and raid lists together for moonkin, I always enjoy going through whats available and trying to math out what the best options are per slot and then looking at the setup as a whole. fun stuff…..thanks and keep up the good work :)
Haha yeah, it’s a pain. I’ve done them for awhile, think since Uld, and they’ve always had a ton of hits so I hope they’re helpful. I was dreading it but got it done.
I loved when the stat changes happened since I destroyed as bommy when I switched some of my haste for crit gear. I had like, 54% hit.
Well probably do the BiS list too. Spi will always go to healers 1st unless it’s on someones BiS list. Luckily we don’t have a boomy…but my gear doesn’t drop for me anyway, been that way since classic. :D
I didn’t want to go boom for anything for Cata, but with a lot of the changes I kind of want to offspec some fights.
Very nice write up Rae! One thing that I didn’t see listed were relics.
I would say, Book of Dark Prophecies from H Stonecore off High Priestess Azil would work nicely for a resto druid. http://www.wowhead.com/item=56350
You’re right! I completely forgot. I’ll add it later, thanks. =)
Np :) I was afraid that I sounded like a complete ass when I posted the comment. xD
Anywho, your post helped me a TON putting together my pre-raid cata BiS list for my guild. Thank you so much! <3
For my belt, I put Belt of the Untamed from the Wildhammer Clan (http://www.wowhead.com/item=62431). It has a bit more spirit than Lightning Lash, but a little less haste, however, it does have a yellow gem socket with a decent +10 socket bonus.
Also, I was curious what your opinion was on professions. For wrath, I had Leatherworking and Jewelcrafting, but after a few hours thinking, I decided to drop LWing and pick up Engineering. I haven't been to bed yet because I stayed up all night powerleveling engineering, so I apologize if you already made a post about professions and I missed it. :P
Nope, I miss a lot of things so it’s great when people point them out! And I didn’t even see that belt, didn’t even think about epic rep gear, I’ll add it and look through the rest just in case.
As for professions, I made one for Wrath but haven’t really looked at Cata yet. Blizz said they want them to be more balanced than they were in Wrath so you really don’t have to change to min/max since even though they said it would be completely balanced, certain ones were still better.
Hopefully they succeed this time around, but once I get all the solid info off live I’ll be sure to research it a bit and make a post.
Thanks again. :D

Can you tell me why you think the Serith Spire Staff would be pre-raid BiS for a Resto Druid.
Many Thanks
I actually didn’t put the weapons in order, just put all the weapons together.
That one has hit though so I need to take it off completely, didn’t even notice.
For the weapons it will just depend, and you will probably want to pick up multiples. Until you don’t need spi you will probably have to use a spi one since they just have so much.
After that you should have a mastery, crit, and haste staff to be able to switch out as needed since with quickly changing gear the actual “BiS” will change with pretty much every upgrade.

Thank you for the list! Like the other three–printing them and crossing off items when they are aquired. I <3 shopping lists!

you’re still missing wrists on this page, so far from what i’ve found there arn’t many options, but it would still be good to add
I put wrists as bracers, I’ve been playing since classic and still call slots the RPG way haha. I’ll probably change the name to wrists though since people always wonder what bracers are. I normally put bp for chest too. =P
What gems would you recoment i only have 2 slots atm but there bother yellow O.o
This is what EJ says to do: Gems: Gem [Ember Shadowspirit Diamond] in your meta socket. To meet the requirement, gem two [Reckless Ember Topaz] wherever you can get the two best yellow socket bonuses.
In all other sockets, gem [Brilliant Inferno Ruby], unless you can pick up a socket bonus of 20 Int or more with a single [Purified Demonseye] or [Reckless Ember Topaz].
I’m going to follow that until I have time to really research it myself, but they are probably right.
What gems and enchants would you recommend i only have 2 sockets but there both yellow O.o
So with some math work i believe i found most the druid haste caps. Also found other useful information containing stats for this current patch. At the moment i would strive for 1606 haste rating giving you 12.54% haste, this haste rating will give you 5 ticks of rejuv. To earn 6 ticks of rejuv would be impossible at the moment(Right around 2700 haste.). I would say for raids at this current time you want at least 1606 haste. The math was not to bad if you want to know my character name and realm is my posting name.
Hey. Thanks for the write up! Very helpful.
I’m just wondering about epic rep gear. How does this compare with some of the pieces listed above.
Cheers
Yes, most of the epic rep gear is indeed better. Trying to stay away from the whole gearscore bull, but as long as it’s correctly itemized for what you need generally the higher ilvl will equal better, at least pre-raid.
I noticed you didn’t touch on Relics, and are missing some of the other slots. Do you plan on adding these or updating in the near future?
Yeah, I skipped around and forgot to go back…..
I’ll update it sometime next week when I have some time off for the holidays =)
Hey there, with my resto druid i didn’t bother with spirit that much…. if it was on gear great, if not then meh.
I found that int nad hase was a good combo, int so you don’t oom and hast to gain extra ticks from all my hots, this is really helpful as you can gain 2% mana back from a rj tick, currently have 20% haste and aiming for 25% to gain an extra 2ticks from lb….. which also has a chance to proc a free rejuve.
Just a different approach but its int nad haste for me :D
Instead of those Hands,Legs, and Chests wouldn’t you want the
Gloves – Stormrider’s Handwraps (1,650 JP)
Legs – Stormrider’s Legwraps (2,200 JP)
Chest – Stormrider’s Robes (2,200 JP)
