How to set up grid for a resto druid

Let me start by saying, even though grid is a great addon, Vuhdo is really a nice upgrade for a resto druid. If you are starting from the beginning with Grid I would suggest following this instead: http://druidlove.wordpress.com/2010/08/03/setting-up-vuhdo-for-a-resto-druid/

It’s a little complicated, but oh so good when you are finished. You can either copy mine, or add more when you’re done. But after you see the basics it’s easy. I play both a resto shaman and disc priest and since the basics were already set up it only took a second to change it for them.

I’ll start out what to download. 1st, don’t be intimidated by how many things you have to download. Even with pretty much every grid addon there is it still doesn’t bog down like healbot.

I download all my addons from Curse.com. I do not use client because time and time again it has led to people getting hacked. Instead I manually install everything and check for updates once a week, normally 30 mins before our Tuesday raid. If you feel you will forget one, bookmark them.

If you aren’t familiar with curse all you have to do it click on WoWAddons at the top and type in grid in the search. You should see a bunch of different mini addons.

I use:

Grid
GridIndicatorSideIcons
GridStatuesHealthLeft
GridStatusHots
GridStatusLifebloom
GridStatusRaidDebuff
GridStatusRaidDebuff(BurningCrusade)
GridStatusRaidDebuff(Wrath)
GridStatusRaidIcons

and Clique

How to set them up:

1st off, decide what you want your heal priority is. You will be able to choose a corner for each of your hots, make sure if you are used to another addon you keep it the same. It does take awhile to get used to, but it’s great once you do.

For me:
Regrowth bottom left with color timer
WG bottom right with color timer
Rejuv top left with number timer
LB top right with counter and number timer

I make my bars just big enough I can see every hot and timer, their health easily, a debuff Icon if there is, and take up as little of my screen as possible.

Now, for the actual set up.

These are MY specs, change as you need. Play around with it. I’ll highlight important ones.

/gridconfig

Frame:
Show Tooltip> OOC
Center Text Length> 5
Invert Bar Color> 0ff
Healing Bar Opacity> 0.5

Border: Mine is agro alert, low hp warning, and my target. There are lots of choices, choose which you want
Health Bar Color: Death Warning, Offline Warning, Unit Health
Healing Bar: Incoming heals
Center Text: Buff:My rejuv, death warning, debuff:ghost, Feign Death Warning, Offline Warning, Raid Debuff, Unit Name
Center Text 2: Buff: My lifebloom stack colored, death warning, debuff:ghost, Feign Death Warning, Offline Warning
Center icon: Buff: My rejuv, Raid Debuff, Ready Check

Icon(sides)-This is where you choose which you want. For me: I dont use top/bottom/left/right icon on the icon(sides) dropdown menu)
Top Left Corner: My rejuv
Top Right corner: My lifebloom, my lifebloom stack colored
Bottom left corner: regrowth
Bottom right corner: my Wg
Frame Alpha: agro alert, death warning, incoming heals, More then 40 yards away
I do all mine as “My” so that I don’t see other druids hots. I can see incoming heals, but not who is hotted and with what so I don’t get confused.

Advanced:
Enable center text 2 indicator
Enable health bar color indicator

border> 0
size> 9
enable icon cd frame
enable icon stack text
enable mouseover highlight

border> 1
corner> 4

orientation of frame> horizontal
text> horizontal
Dropdown Menu-Icon(sides)
Icon border size> 0
Size top> 7
Bottom> 8

right> 8
All offset axis> 0

That’s it for frame, onto layout:

Solo> group by 5
Party> group by 5 w/pets
10 Raid> Group 10 w/pets
25 player> group 40
BG> 40
arena> 5

horizontal Groups
Padding> 0
Spacing> 5
Scale> 1.4
Border> White
Background> black

Advanced:
layout anchor> topleft
group anchor> bottomright
border texture> blizzard tooltip
Hidetab

Status:
I never had to change any of these. I don’t use the buff feature since I just rebuff every boss pull and buff people when they are resed in battle as it happens. I just didn’t find it important enough to take up room.

Everything else was already set up. But look at them anyway and see if there is something you want to change in it. Tweek it how you want.

Clique: Is VERY easy. Click P and look at the last tab. All you do it click the spell with what button or button/key combo you want for it.
Mine is:
Left button:Regrowth
Shift-Left:WG
Right: LB
Shift right: Nourish
middlebutton: Rejuv
shiftmiddle: SM
Alt-left: Innervate
alt right: BR

  1. Me again :D I could not find:

    GridStatusHealthLeft
and the wrath and bc versions of the raid debuffs

on curse… am I just blind?

  2. Hmm, I’ve checked pretty much every addon site and can’t find healthleft. When they updated it they may have renamed it.

    Try gridstatushealthfade

I think when you DL the basic debuff one it auto has BC and Wrath inside of the folder. It’s one of the ones you have to take the stuff out of the folder to put into your addons folder. Not 100% sure though. Check that and get back to me if it’s not and I’ll look around some more.

  3. I highly recommend switching to Vuhdu. I did about 6 months ago, and it’s so much better than the Grid/Clique combo.
